Respect to Paul Harvey, RIP

Paul Harvey, a unique and cherished voice on the radio, originator of "The Rest of the Story..." passed away this weekend. Nicknamed the "hardest working man in radio," Harvey reported the bad AND the good, and often the funny and just plain weird, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

I believe he may have been a major spur in goading my curiosity into a major trait. One of the first books I ever read was one of his "Rest of the Story" compilations. The stories don't always pass Snopes muster, but it was a strong encouragement to dig beneath headlines and find the people underneath.

His broadcasts have been guest hosted a lot lately, notably by his son and former Gov. Huckabee. When he did speak, the energy was there but the voice was failing.

May he enjoy broadcasting in paradise.

The work ethic of Paul Harvey and his integrity as a person was way above the norm. Paul Harvey was one of my favorites when I was growing up. Paul Harvey was a one of a kind and he will be missed.

Oh, no! I love Paul Harvey. That friendly voice I heard every lunchtime all summer long! This is a real loss.

I can't believe I've seen NOTHING in any online news pages about this.

Bud Hettinger (another nice guy but with a normally boring show) did a long tribute to Mr. Harvey including a semi-recognizable impression of his wonderful voice.

I've been surprised by the lack of coverage as well. Perhaps evidence of a liberal press?

Bud's show is boring because he is too nice. :) People listen to talk radio for the edge.

Matt said there was coverage all over the radio, which I would expect. I just can't believe I didn't even see a headline online anywhere.
